Businesses Assisted


The Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Centers (MO SBTDC) is part of a national program authorized in the 1980s.  Headquartered at the University of Missouri, the SBTDC is a critical component of contractual relationships with nearly all of Missouri's state colleges and universities.

Three Year Statistics

From 2013 through 2015, the University of Missouri Extension Business Development Program (BDP) assisted Missouri companies with technical assistance and education resulting in:

  • $39.9 million in increased sales
  • $42.8 million in capitalization

In addition, the programs assisted clients in creating 754 jobs and 66 new businesses.

Staffing and Education

Offering a staff of more than 60 business counselors, SBTDC assists Missouri businesses of all sizes and statures.  These counselors offer one-on-one, individualized, educational, and completely confidential counseling relationships with firms.  MO SBTDC addresses a variety of issues including:

  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Government Contracting
  • International Trade
  • Research
  • Product Commercialization
  • and more

In the past three years, SBTDC have counseled or educated more than 40,000 business owners/managers.

In fiscal year 2015, Missouri Small Business and Technology Development Centers served:

  • 687 clients in counseling
  • 1,326 training attendees
