Patents and Licenses Developed
The Office of Technology Management and Industry Relations (OTMIR), under the MU Office of Research, received $6,331,295 in gross licensing revenue in FY2012, and manages a portfolio of 639 active invention disclosures, 382 active US patents and patent applications, 371 foreign patents, patent applications, and PCT applications, and 187 active license agreements and options. In addition, OTMIR processed 236 material transfer agreements and 193 non-disclosure agreements in FY2012.
Lab-to-market: MU's licensing income from the commercializaiton of new technologies have reached more than $39 million in the past five years. To date, companies that have licensed products invented by MU scientists have received about $1 billion in sales revenues. research.missouri.edu/otmir
In 2011 MU received a $5 million grant from the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, through the Foundation's Translational Partnership Award Program. The goal of the partnership is to develop technologies that will save, extend and improve patient lives and relieve suffering from any disease or condition in any country around the world. The funds support collaborative projects between biomedical engineers and clinicians to take research discoveries to clinical practice.
