Jim Gann, EdD MBA

Director of Business Engagement

As the Director of of Business Engagement with the Office of the Vice Provost for Economic Development, Dr. Gann provides decision support to campus administration on complex relationships between the campus and external commercial parties. In addition to these duties, Dr. Gann leads a pioneering collaborative effort between the University, the City of Boonville, and the County of Cooper, Mo. in a program of mutual support on economic development initiatives. In this role, Dr. Gann also holds the title of Economic Development Director for the City and County.

Jim comes from an entrepreneurial background, having owned and operated his own successful businesses in printing, publishing, real estate management and property development. Additionally, he has held a number of elected and volunteer leadership positions in public service.

Dr. Gann is a graduate of the University of Missouri where he studied higher education policy and culture in university technology transfer. His other degrees include an MBA from William Woods University and a B.S. from Central Missouri State University. Additionally, Dr. Gann holds a certificate in Technology Marketing from the California Institute of Technology, and is certified in curricula promulgated by the Ewing Marion Kaufmann Foundation. Jim is nationally certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional (NDC), and as a Technology Business Counselor (ASBDC). For his work, Jim has received awards at both the national and state levels.
