Missouri Tech Jobs

A Rising Star

Missouri beat out California and New York for growth in technology jobs in the first half of the year, according to a study released this week citing U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

The Show-Me-State ranked third on Dice.com's top 10 list of state technology job growth, showing a 3.8 percent increase in technology jobs from Jan. 13 to June 13, compared with the same period in 2012. That translates to 1,200 new technology jobs in Missouri during the period, a Dice spokesman said.

Dice.com, which is a part of 20-year-old Dice Holdings Inc. service in New York, is a jobs search website aimed at technology and engineering positions.

Spokesman Benjamin Doda attributed Missouri's tech job growth to pent-up demand tied to mobile app and cloud-based technology, plus big data analytics throughout Kansas City and the rest of the state. These trends show no signs of diminishing.
