2012 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index

The 2012 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth. The components include job, wage and salary, and technology growth. In most years, these give a good indication of the underlying structural performance of regional economics.

Columbia has been ranked #10 in the 2012 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index! U.S. metropolitan areas are ranked by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth. Columbia moved up from #25 in 2011.

The index compiled a list of 179 smallest metros to determine the rankings.  There are 2 other Missouri cities on the list, Joplin at #44 and Jefferson City at #63.  Impressively, Joplin was ranked at #71 in last years ranking.  Jefferson City received the exact same placing as last year keeping its position for this year.
